dc.description.abstract | Development of innovative, cost-effective and highly efficient photobioreactors (PBRs) is becoming highly important because of the increasing demand for microalgal products. This chapter introduces the potential properties of microalgal PBR production. Recent studies on hydrodynamic parameters and geometrical configurations of photobioreactors are reviewed. Moreover, the large-scale production and industrial applications of PBRs, such as new trends for hydrogen production, advanced waste-water treatments and high-value products, are elucidated. Finally, economic assessments are explained. Recent examples are discussed in detail to raise the awareness PBR usage in various industrial areas. © 2017 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
