Turizm potansiyelinin değerlendirilmesi ve gelişiminde yerel aktörlerin rolü: Gaziantep örneği

Abstract

Türkiye de turizm uygulamasının genel olarak kıyı bölgelerinde yapıldığı ve diğer yerlerin turizm potansiyellerinin değerlendirilemediği bilinmektedir. Gaziantep, taşıdığı derin tarihi geçmişi ile pek çok kültür ve medeniyete beşiklik etmiştir. Gaziantep yöresi, gerek tarihi eserleri gerekse arkeolojik değerleri bakımından oldukça zengin bir turizm potansiyeline sahiptir. Bu çalışma ile yörenin sahip olduğu turizm potansiyelinin değerlendirilmesi ve turizm gelişiminin sürekli kılınabilmesi açısından yerel toplumun görüşleri araştırılmıştır. Yapılan anket çalışması neticesinde; alternatif turizm türlerinden, gastronomi ve kültür turizminin Gaziantep açısından geliştirilmeye uygun olduğu, turizm gelişimi için Marka Kent çalışmalarının önemli olduğu ve kurumlar arası işbirliğinin artırılarak yerel toplumun bu sürece dahil edilmesi gerektiği sonuçları bulunmuştur. Tarihi, doğal ve kültürel çekicilikler açısından zengin olan Gaziantep İli nin doğru ve sürdürülebilir bir plan çerçevesinde bu değerlerini kullanabilmesine, önemli bir turizm destinasyonu haline gelebilmesine çalışma katkıda bulunacaktır.
